Alta Pizzeria & Pasta House

About us

Established in 1992 by the Chirico family, Alta Pizzeria and Pasta House, proudly, has been a part of the Hazleton community. Serving more than just Italian food but a culture of family, tradition, and a love for gathering around the table.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Neil and Renee Chirico, Alta was opened the same year they started their own family. Neil, an immigrant from Italy, and Renee, a second-generation Italian American, brought with them generations of recipes, stories, and a deep belief that food should be shared slowly and joyfully. From the very beginning, Alta was meant to feel like home.

Step into our dining room and you'll understand right away. Dining at Alta is often described as sitting at your grandmother's table — classic, comfortable, and full of heart. Our walls are filled with artwork, photographs, and pieces of our Italian heritage, celebrating both our family and the culture that inspires everything we do. It's a space where conversations linger, laughter is encouraged, and memories are made.

If you've dined with us, chances are you've met Neil himself. Even after all these years, he still loves going from table to table, sharing stories, catching up with guests, and welcoming newcomers like old friends. That personal connection has always been the soul of Alta.

Our menu reflects the same balance of tradition and comfort. From creamy Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo to Italian classics like Carbonara and Puttanesca, our pasta dishes honor time-tested flavors. Our pizza menu spans American favorites like Meat Lovers and Chicken Bacon Ranch, alongside house signatures named after the people who mean the most to us — including the beloved Rosella Pizza and Francesca Tavern.

Alta has always been a family effort. Over the years, many relatives and friends worked side by side in the restaurant, including all three Chirico children. In 2022, the torch was passed to the second generation when Dante Chirico, Neil and Renee's youngest, took over ownership. With deep respect for the past and excitement for the future, Dante is proud to carry on the legacy his parents built — with hopes of one day passing it down again.

We're open seven days a week offering dine-in, pickup, and delivery throughout the Hazleton area. We're also BYOB, and we encourage you to stay awhile — we don't rush tables here. At Alta, dinner isn't just a meal, it's an experience meant to be enjoyed at your own pace.

Whether you're joining us for a special occasion or a simple weeknight dinner, Alta Pizzeria and Pasta House is a place where traditions are shared, memories are made, and everyone is treated like family. We look forward to welcoming you and serving you for generations to come.
